Artist Bio – Kim Ripley O’Brien
Kim is a native of Atlanta, Georgia who now lives in the Alpharetta/Milton area. She has loved art since she was old enough to hold a paint brush but has only been selling her abstract, contemporary still life, and plein air landscape paintings for the last fifteen years. She taught elementary school for twenty five years and enjoyed painting only in her spare time until recently. Kim became a full time artist working in oils, acrylics and watercolors in 2014. She has studied oil painting under Jill Steenhuis in Provence, France and with Dawn Martin of Atlanta’s DawnArt. Her paintings can be found in many homes throughout the Southeast and in The Trinity Mercantile and Design store in Decatur, Georgia and the Hang-It-Up Gallery in Hartwell, Georgia. Each work of art is a result of what she calls “joyfully splashing paint around to create a beautiful image of something or nothing”. The inspiration that brings color to canvas and the finished product are always a wonder to her.
